Superman Vol. 6 (2023–Present): Joshua Williamson's Man of Steel

Lex Luthor behind bars and working for Superman, a new Metropolis full of strange villains, and three years of DC's biggest events. Here's our guide to Joshua Williamson's Superman.

When DC began its Dawn of DC line in 2023, it relaunched the main Superman title with writer Joshua Williamson and artist Jamal Campbell. Issue #1 went on sale in February 2023 and opened with a bold idea: Lex Luthor in prison, and Superman running the company Lex handed over to him.

More than 40 issues later, this run has taken in House of Brainiac, Absolute Power and the whole of DC All In. We have a good selection of the 2025 and 2026 issues at Siomic Comics, so here is our guide to the series and its key moments.

Supercorp and a new Metropolis

The series follows on from Action Comics #1050. Lex Luthor is finally behind bars, and in a twist nobody expected, he has handed his company to Superman, and it is now called Supercorp. Clark has to work out whether Lex is genuinely trying to make amends or playing his longest game yet, while running a corporation and protecting a city full of new threats.

Williamson and Campbell filled Metropolis with fresh faces: the night-time antihero Marilyn Moonlight, the Spirit of Metropolis, in #2, and the villains Graft and Doctor Pharm, who appear from #1. Lena Luthor and Jimmy Olsen play big roles, and Lois Lane is at Clark's side throughout.

Williamson's Superman is about trust: whether Clark can trust Lex, and whether the world can trust a Superman who now runs Lex's company.

Curiosities collectors should know

A top-five launch

Superman #1 placed fifth in the February 2023 comic shop charts.

A movie variant

For the summer of 2025, #27 received a variant cover by Jerry Ordway themed around the new Superman film.

Cover artists galore

Lee Bermejo, David Aja, Chris Samnee, Guillem March and Nathan Szerdy are among the regular variant artists.

One writer throughout

Williamson has written or co-written every issue, so the series reads as one long story despite all the events.

Superman beyond the page

The run's second half coincided with James Gunn's Superman film in July 2025, and #28 was part of DC's Summer of Superman push. The series isn't an adaptation, but it's the main monthly home of the character, and a natural next read for anyone who enjoyed the film. Pair it with Superman Unlimited and Action Comics for the full picture.
