Next, Geralt encounters a beast with the faculties of man and discovers that within fairy tales, the truth is revealed. Then, superstitions of an inborn evil pit a mage against a young woman, but with each committing acts of cruelty and carnage, who is the true evil? And fate plays a hand at a banquet to find a suitor for the princess when a mysterious guest ignites chaos within the royal family. In another story, Geralt and Dandelion search for a devil who they are to cast out, but not kill.
